Leave Luck To Heaven
Description for Leave Luck to Heaven - Nintendo Triptych. I have been wanting to do this for a long time and I’m glad I finally got around to it. Originally Samus was the only Nintendo character I wanted to draw, with the caption “leave luck to heaven” (allegedly the literal translation of the word Nintendo). This sketch lay in one of my sketchbooks for years until a few weeks...

Sketchbook
Its become apparent to me that I don’t post nearly as often as I’d like to. I’ve narrowed this problem down to the fact that I have falsely high standards about the work I want other people to see. Recently I have been taking some of the sketches I do and colouring them in quickly. These are sketches that would otherwise sit in sketchbooks for eternity never seeing the light of...

I have been taking it easy for the past month, I just finished my degree and graduated university. I’ve not really been drawing much apart from the odd doodle on scraps of paper on my desk, I’ve enjoyed not doing anything. But my time of rest is approaching its end, I have many things that I want to accomplish: I will be altering my website in the next few weeks, I want to alter the...

Click and drag to navigate, use shift and control to zoom in out out (scroll wheel zooms too but you’ll also scroll the page). This is one of my finished illustrated dream panoramas. Others can be found HERE. This is the web version of this project, the project is also on exhibition at the University of Cental Lancahsire, where it is interacted with via a Dreamcast controller. ...

Tiny update
I am very busy and stressed at the moment. My deadline is approaching fast, Tuesday 31st May and my panoramas are nearly done. Things would be going a lot smoother if I had a decent internet connection, Im currently receiving a 0.13MB download speed, which is due to a fault on the line we’ve had for nearly 3 weeks. I have various thing that need sorting out, for example; the PC that...

This is a quick test to see various outcomes when outputting my panoramas. The first image is how a 600dpi 7000x3500px jpeg appears in a flash panorama that has a cube face size of 856. Although the image is large and has a high dpi, when the flash panorama uses a low cube face size (tile size as its mentioned above) of 856 zooming in shows heavy loss of detail. This example was the fastest for...

Nintendo Cafe
Everytime there is a rumour about a new Nintendo console I get very excited. With the rumours flying around on kotaku and IGN about a successor to the Nintendo Wii (project cafe), I was compelled to make this mock up of how I think the homescreen of Nintendo’s new console could look. So in my vision of the homescreen of Nintendo’s next console the system would be able to output at...

One Month Later
Ive not posted anything in a month, I have been quite busy though. The first thing that has kept me from posting is that I now have an allotment. I waited 3 years to get one so I had to go and meet the man and sort all that out. So far I’ve done some digging, made a wooden compost bin and decided I want to dig a pond. In addition to that I also had a talk to give for Uni about my work....

Whilst I’m on the subject of rotating GIFS, heres one I found in my pictures folder on my computer. I stumbled upon it whilst browsing the internet and Ive got absolutely no idea where its from. It seems to be 3 different age groups of a female, I don’t know what purpose it originally served but to me it rotates and is colourful. Again its good as a reference for the statues work I...

http://cezkid.deviantart.com/ These gifs where made by “cezkid”, link above. Before I settled on solely making panoramas I was experimenting with interactive rotating objects. This is still something I think I’ll come back to in the future. Not only are these ones videogame related but they’re really well made.

TAQO’s Flickr This was the second example of work I found which led me to believe my own illustrated panoramas were not as original as I’d first thought. I found these illustrated looking equirectangular images by Japanese photographer “TAQO”, upon closer inspection and reading the description it became clear that these images are not illustrated but are HDR photographs...

Sohei Nishino Sohei Nishino is a from japan. He spends his time walking around the cities of the world taking thousands of photographs, He then sticks them all together to create a Diorama. The example above is from a month long visit to London, the image shows the city by way of its landmarks and basic layout rather than aiming to be as accurate as an A-Z. My Girlfriend found his work in the...

Today is my birthday. In other news, following a feedback session with my tutor I am going to stop over complicating the reasons behind making these panoramas. I have never been one of these people who tries to justify the work they’re doing by saying its about human emotion or other equally irrelevant sources. I’m making these panoramas because I think they’ll look appealing,...

Theres only so much planning I can do, then I'm...
This project is, in most areas, going well (the above pie-chart accurately depicting my time). Ive managed to find most of the dreams Ive ever written down, dreams Ive had but not written down are coming back to my memory and Ive done some drawings of all of the above. Its not that I’m changing my mind, but, I am beginning to think that basing the project solely on dreams will not give me...

Website Update
Ive been altering my website recently, mainly due to 3 factors. I was sick of the sight of its boring grey-ness I like learning things I need to prepare it for things to come Some of the things I changed include: Expanding menus for project sections (which doesn’t work in Firefox yet) Updated some graphics, fonts, favicon etc Altered layout, mainly thickness I then proceeded to...
