The Scientist.
I said I’d draw this friend about 2 years ago and as I’m getting back into portraiture I thought I’d finally get it done. Obviously this isn’t actually a cover for “New Scientist” I just thought It would be fitting as he’s into science.
WISDOM TOOTH REMOVAL
I haven’t been drawing or updating my tumblr for a week because I had a wisdom tooth out last monday and I’ve been recovering. I was awake when it was done but the only bit of the operation that hurt was the 2 injections in 2 separate nerves, both of which weren’t pleasant. They were nothing compared to the recovery though. I had a massive swollen face for a couple of days which was fine but the pain in my jaw was ridiculous, ibuprofen has been good to me but you can only have 2 every 4 hours and the effect only lasts about 2. I’m feeling a bit better now though so I will be back to drawing and posting shortly.
I had my lower right wisdom tooth out, my lower left one is yet to rear its ugly head. Hopefully it might never come up.
Whilst working on a print I was experimenting with backgrounds. Now I’ve made a print from the background.
Back on this debate again. I cant decide about the eyes, I’ll have to come to a decision sooner or later.
Work in progress - A print I’m doing as a gift.
This is just the skin colour layer, the final will look drastically different with an outline. I would love to get into digital painting, I think I like outlines too much though.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and there’s no better time than the end of the year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
I’ll be starting up my “sketch a day” again tomorrow.
Mario Christmas.
My blog has been fairly neglected recently, I’ll be back to posting regularly in the next few days.
I’ve not posted to tumblr in ages and my sketch a day (haha) has dissolved once more. I have been drawing though, but I’ve also been getting into sculpture. This is the second sculpture I’ve started, obviously its just the armature but if you can guess what it is you’re a genius. In addition to sculpture I’ll be back to posting some drawings soon enough. I might start posting sculpture on Sundays and call it “Sculpture Sundays” see how long that lasts.
Society 6 now offer pillows so I’m in the process of reworking some of my prints.
…also there is free world wide shipping at the moment.
pathadley asked: Hi Mark, Intrigued by your Mesolithic comics! Didn't know the Sefton Project had a Mesolithic aspect? I'd love to know a little more? Cheers, Pat
Hi Pat, thanks for the message.
I’m working on the comic with Sefton Coast Landscape Partnership Scheme, whilst I have learned a bit about the coasts history from the project my role is still very much the illustrator, i’d definitely suggest you talk to them directly for in depth information. They can be contacted here:
Website- email address on this page too.
Also I’ll probably be posting sketches and the finished comic on my tumblr and on my twitter.
Wedding Invites
I’ve been busy the past few days doing some wedding invites for a friend. This is the final illustration for the invites. I’ve got some roughs and alternatives that I’ll probably post over the next few days, mostly involving Pikachu and Hello Kitty. Obviously I didn’t charge as neither me or the friend owns the rights to these characters, it was however a fun personal project.
If you’d like any personalised wedding illustration for anything from save the date’s to wedding invites you can get in touch here. Keep in mind though I cant draw any copyrighted characters, the above image is just a fun example.
